Description
Young people may be up to 40% more likely to suffer a work-related injury than their older colleagues. A young person may work in a variety of ways, including full time, part time, work experience,voluntary work, or as an apprentice. Regardless of how they get involved, their employer is responsible for ensuring they remain safe at work and are protected from possible dangers to their health.
This course explores the differences between young people and experienced workers, preparations managers should take before hiring a young person, and the additional support a young person will require to stay safe while at work.

- Identify who is classed as a ‘young person'
- Recognise common hazards and risks for young people at work
- Appreciate contributory factors that increase the risks for young people
- Recall applicable best practice guidelines in relation to young people
- Take appropriate action to keep young people safe at work
