Description
Engaging in romantic relationships and sexual activity can be a normal part of being at university. In any relationship, however, it's important that each person understands one another's expectations and boundaries, and consents to take part in any sexual activity.
This course is designed to promote a culture of consent on campus, to ensure that university is a safe experience for everyone. It covers the definition of consent, how to recognise consent or the absence of it and how to help someone in need of support. Through engaging content, videos and scenario questions, learners will be able to understand the importance of consent and how to keep campus safe.
Course Objectives
- Defining what consent is, including the legal definition of consent
- Recognising what factors affect consent, including freedom and capacity, as well as power dynamics
- Understanding what verbal and behavioural signs to look for when seeking consent
- Describing what to do if you witness an incident
- Tips for promoting a culture of consent on campus
