Description

The most common cause of workplace fires is electrical equipment. Electrical faults cause a large proportion of non-residential fires, often with serious consequences. Fires that start in this way often begin unexpectedly and can spread to their surroundings with alarming speed. At even 50 volts, electricity can cause serious injuries. It makes sense for everyone to be trained in electrical safety! Electrical safety is a very wide topic; the breadth of electrical safety issues can include electricity supply, pylons, substations, overhead cables, underground (buried) electrical services/cables, electrical installations in workplaces and electrical equipment. This course is aimed at a non-specialist audience in a typical working environment such as offices, shops, warehouses, manufacturing and so on. The focus is on awareness of electrical hazards and what employees can do to manage risks associated with typical appliances and other electrical equipment encountered in the typical workplace.
